International Service
This page will give some brief information on some of the projects Saratoga Rotary's International Service Committee is directly supporting and/or provide links to programs the committee wants to publicize.

Sister Families
Our club is currently sponsoring a number of children in this program which helps place abandoned children in loving homes. Additionally, a number of members are also individually sponsoring children.
(NB - These are not the children we sponsor, we are still hoping to get those photos).

Rotoplast International
The Mission of Rotaplast International is to provide free reconstructive
surgery and treatment for underprivileged children worldwide, to provide
education, and to advance research in the prevention of cleft lip and palate.
As mentioned under the 'Art Show Dollars at Work' section, our club has made a number of contributions to the Rotaplast Program including direct financial aid, and participation by club members on particular trips. Of course, our biggest contributor is Dr. Ronald Gemberling, a plastic surgeon who has performed surgery in many countries in Latin America.

Wheel Chair Foundation
During Rotary Year 2001-2002, our club also supported The Wheelchair Foundation. A unique program that delivers free wheelchairs to poor individuals around the world.
Over 100 million children, teens and adults worldwide are in need of a wheelchair but cannot afford one.
For each $75.00 donated, the foundation will match that and deliver a wheelchair to a child, teen or adult without mobility, freedom and often hope. You will receive a beautiful presentation folder, including a photograph of a wheelchair recipient, and a certificate indicating the person's name, age, country and wheelchair number

2003 - Belize Trip
We would like to make people aware of the opportunity to participate in Uniendo America:
January 2003 - Belize City, Belize. Project Fair for Central and South America to promote international communication.
Uniendo America Chairman , Shawn Leimbach
(510) 547-8797 - W, 75111.1037@compuserve.com
This fair is held in Central American countries to bring together regional Rotary clubs to meet with traveling Rotarians and guests from North America to partner in WCS projects sponsored by TRF Humanitarian grants. Tour members will participate in the hands-on distribution of wheelchairs in partnership with The Wheelchair Foundation. Belize is known for its tropical weather, white sand beaches and lush vegetation. World famous diving is a favorite activity in waters protected by Belize's extensive reefs.

2002 Ghana: Official Travel Program of Rotary District 5170
Includes: Polio Eradication Day, Wheel Chair Foundation Distribution, and Grant Project Review.
