ABOUT US

The Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation (SRCF) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt California non-profit corporation.  The SRCF Board of Directors meets quarterly to grant funds to charitable, educational and other nonprofit organizations.  Foundation grants support requests for capital needs and one-time special expenses.

The Foundation’s primary source of income is from fundraising efforts of the Saratoga Rotary Club,  such as the annual Saratoga Rotary Art Show. SRCF has distributed almost $3 million to community nonprofit organizations since its inception almost 20 years ago.

SRCF Grant Applications

Grant applications must be submitted no later than 30 days prior to an upcoming Board of Trustee meeting. The Board of Trustees generally meets on the third Thursday in February, May, August and November.

The Grant Application and your organization's budget and three references can be returned to the Foundation by (1) email or (2) US mail:
 
1. Email - complete the downloaded application using Microsoft Word or other word processing software, save the file, and email a copy with the supporting documents to charitablefoundation@saratogarotary.org .
 
2. US mail - send the completed application with the supporting documents to:

Rotary Club of Saratoga Service Projects Funded by SRCF

Youth Services Activities

  • Scholarships to graduating high school seniors for college, and West Valley College students. (~$15,000 a year)
  • Rotary youth leadership training sponsorships (10-12 students a year)
  • Entrepreneurial leadership conference sponsorships (6-10 students a year)
  • Partnered in Read Across America at Latimer Elementary and providing each child with a book to keep. (~3600 books donated over the years)
  • Back to school help for school children, including shopping with them for clothes and sponsoring backpacks. (10 students a year)
  • Career conversations and mentorship for underprivileged students at West Valley College.

Community Services Activities

  • Feeding the hungry, especially during COVID-19.  This includes food insecure students at West Valley College & at  Martha’s Kitchen.
  • Partnered with Rise Against Hunger to pack to distribute to the hungry internationally. (10,000 – 30,000 meals)
  • To help active duty service men and women, partnered with Operation Care & Comfort to purchase and pack 600 care packages.. (300 service men and women a year)
  • Breakfast with Santa at Washington School which brings a nutritious breakfast, crafts, face painter, Christmas songs, a Christmas book reading and a gift and picture from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.
  • Community cleanup

Grants Awarded to Community Partners

We support between 12 to 20 organizations that reach out to us for support each year.  The following types of organizations are supported by Saratoga Rotary Charitable Foundation:

  • Healthcare and Medical: Blind & Visually Handicapped Support, Mental Illness, Addiction Prevention, Cancer Care, Free Medical Clinics (RotaCare), Brain Injury, Cleft lip and burn scar (Rotaplast), Hospitals, Surgical Care, etc.
  • Community: Homelessness, Diversity and Inclusion, Women’s Sport, Foster Care, Clothing for victims of Sexual Violence, Firefighters, Veteran Care, Library
  • Elder Care Centers: Adult Day Care, Senior Citizen Communities, Development Disability Support
  • Education: Preschools, College Preparation, Book Donations, Community College and Students Welfare
  • Art, Culture and Nature: Museums, Fine Arts, Gardens, Theatre, Music

Here are the suggested donation amounts and what can be done with your generous donations:  

$250 helps buy a book for every child in a grade level in a Title 1 elementary school

$650 helps one high school junior through the Rotary run Enterprise Leadership Conference (3 days, 2 nights)

$1000 helps in Back to School Shopping for 10 students

$2500 provides 300 care packages for active service members under Operation Care and Comfort (going on for 5+ years)
